well what a morning! Polly spent the night in the hospital last night and shared some funny conversations her and steven had while he was keeping the nursing staff busy all night. i thought that it must just be some night medication that was making him so loopy but this morning he is saying some mighty funny things! he seems alert and awake but keeps talking about conspiracy type stuff. he is totally convinced it is night time and wants me to go downstairs and march around on the street and take a poll to find out if its day or night and come back to him and report the results....oiy veh! hahaha. i think this is the result of the new drugs for swelling. but speaking of drugs, they are trying to ween him off the narcotics which is so good! it was the day nurses idea and i think its wonderful that she is interested in his well being because honestly if i had this job i would probably try and keep my patients as heavily sedated as possible because its a strait up loony bin in here! he is in excellent care. he is looking great! his neck is almost looking normal and besides all the weight his has lost and the tubes, i would say he is returning to the handsome fella he is. he is doing fantastic with mobility. his motor skills are getting stronger....as well as his demands. we had to stop giving him ice just for today to make sure its not interfering with the leaks in his throat. we will find out tomorrow if its too much.
right now he is just laying in his bed with his legs crossed and watching Indiana Jones....HAHA he cracks me up!!!!
i am so pleased with every ones effort, really, thank you so much to all the blog posters...he loves hearing from yall. and thank you to those that have sent cards, flowers, and have been offering to help. realizing how many people love and care for my dad is a real tear jerker and yalls dedication and support is incredible. thank you so much! oh, and again i am real sorry that the updates got a little slow there for a while, but all is well and i will stay more on top of it! : )

Callan, you are doing an excellent job with the updates. No one could ask for more. There is no question in my mind that the reason Steven is doing so well is because of the all of the love he has around him and the fact that you all are there by his bedside. So you all get to take some credit for that. Every doctor will tell you that a strong loving support system of family and friends can make all the difference. I've seen it with my own Dad who's still going strong at 87 after many surgeries over the years!
ReplyDeleteDude, we are going to have a hell of good time telling stories about your antics after you get well. Payback is a bitch! :) And I want you to know that you have folks right here in L.A. that care for you as well and we are going to be here for you as you recuperate and get stronger. Just try to keep me away!
I'll be home tomorrow evening and I can't wait to see you. Until then, be good to the ladies - they're in charge.
Much love,
Charlene
Steven Michael,
ReplyDeleteWell boy it sounds like you going to make it. Swelling going down in your neck, fever more stable, bloodwork looking better. And now reducing your pain meds. Man this is all good news.
God is answering our prayers. Healing is slow and I know how impatient you can be, but Steven just keep fighing. Keep believing, Hang tight to your hope. You are dearly loved by so many. And we all want you back soon.
Thank you Callan so very much. From the deepest part of my heart I am so grateful for the time you are spending with Your Dad. He is a great man. I know him better than most. I know his heart.
Thank you.
Steven, I will post again tomorrow. Get some rest, and give those nurses a break every once in a while.
Love ya Bro.
Don.

Hi Steven!
ReplyDeleteHow are you today dear? I cannot stop thinking about you!
I like Brooke's idea of adding specifics to our prayers so I'm following her lead in visualizing you in the backyard barbecuing, cutting roses in the front yard, walking Chance, watching football, and laughing at the comedy club down on Sunset. All those simple pleasures are in sight now Steven. You've made the turn and you're on your way. You've got so much love and support all around you, multitudes of prayers and good vibes coming at you, the best medical care, and the will and resolve to make it happen, so nothing can stop you now.
Be patient and give your body the time it needs to get strong again. Each new day will bring new energy, more strength and small miracles. We're all so excited at how far you've come. Keep up the good work sweetheart!
Love,
Charlene
