Friday / Saturday. MOMS HERE!!!

hello hello!
sorry the blog updates are going kind of slow, please be patient, i am doing as much as i can. but you all will be happy to know that i spoke to one of the doc's this morning and they said that this is where Steven is making the turn. recovery is quite slow and since it seems that we are just coming over the hump the progress will be long and drawn out, but good none the less. after the surgery (to remove dead tissue in his neck) the swelling will continue to go down but very gradually. sometimes it is hard to get information from the doctors but most news is positive and Steven seems in mostly in good spirits. we shifted his bed so he can look out the window we are doing everything we can to make him feel comfortable. sometimes he seems very content despite everything he is going through, other times he is very aggravated. he wants water so badly and he is always asking for ice. last night he tried to pay Rachel to give him water!!! HAHA, so so funny! we will be laughing at that one for a long time! A doctor came in and really put things in perspective. he introduced himself and Steven held his hand out for a hand shake and a proper introduction and the Doc said "as far as im concerned any one in the ICU that can give a good handshake is having nothing more then a few bad days." i appreciate his positive attitude.
as of right now, we are just waiting to see if his body starts fighting off the infection. we are looking at signs like his fever, white blood cell count, swelling, etc. This is going to take a long time folks. they were going to have him out of the ICU on Wednesday but now we are looking at Monday but he still has a long way to go in terms of internal patching up his body needs to take care of so he can sip that iced tea he has been dreaming of.
They are going to try and put him on some steroids to encourage the swelling reduction, maybe it might work, maybe it wont but its worth a shot.
Thank you again everyone, i know how important it is to keep updated, but now i have extra help because my mom is here!! hooray!!!! Steven is really happy to see her...and all her theatrical, loud ambiance!
thanks everyone!

Steven, Pal, I know this is driving you nuts. But hang in there. I say this in every comment I post to keep fighting. Bit it is so true and is so you. Your are the fighter of fighters. This you are trained for.

Hopefully the steroids will work to get the swelling down and your body will begin to fight that darn infection. I have faith Steven that you will be healed of this and recover completely.

Pat and will continue to pray for you and love you and hope for you.

  2. hello steven!! it's beth...

i am thinking of you soooo much, and praying for your strength and recovery, every day. not an hour goes by where you are not in my mind and heart.

you would have loved it here in the Swiss Alps yesterday - Aug.1st was National Swiss Day! i played an outdoor gig-fest - along with 3 other musicians from other countries (Wales, Italy, Germany...and me!) it was such fun - and at one point, i said it was a melting pot of music, then i dubbed it: Musical Fondue! :)

but what you would have loved about the gig - besides the great music - is all the pretty girls! they really came out in numbers yesterday on a swiss summer day, and they all sort of looked alike: blonde, blue-eyed, exotic and perky!! i mentioned this to Pascal and he said, "yes, there must be a nest of them around here somewhere." haha! funny!

steven, i am so very encouraged to hear of your progress!! you are so strong - you can and will be your 100% again - and with the steroids, perhaps then you'll be at 110%! :) but do, take it slowly, listen to your inner voice, and your body - and listen to those who love you and are caring for you - and respect what your body needs to heal itself. it will come...you will do it, we all are certain of this. just - take your time. "easy" as everyone says, over here...

i wish i could be there in person to give you Johrei - and massage your feet. :) i am praying for you, every day, from here - and distance is no matter when it comes to prayer and vibrations of health that are sent your way. i am sending many - as are so many people who love you.

callan, thank you for the updates! i am so glad your mom is there now. rachel, you are a goddess, and mr. bond, our hero... blessings of love and light to all of you!

pascal and i send our love, steven. we are speaking of you every day in positive, healthy terms. keep up the beautiful work, steven - we can't wait to see you in november. i won't stop hugging you when i see you. :)

julian also sends his love. he was very very concerned and upset when i told him. but he has offered to do anything to help!! he is very close to st. john's, very strong and positive, and he has time...

(callan or rach, PLEASE call him for anything. julian moss: 310.403.3022)

big, huge, light and fluffy, healthy, infinite Love to you steven kalish!! miss you!! xoxox ~ beth

  3. Steven,

Again, more incouraging news! I know your improvements may not seem quick enough for you, but you need to show your typical resolve and have patience.

We have you in our thoughts and hearts daily! I can't wait to hear that you are cruising the hospital halls on your way to a full recovery! I did think that was funny that you tried to BUY ice - but I feel your pain there man! I just know you will reach a point were your improvements are more rapid.
    Hang in there buddy!

    Your old friend,
    Roger Reichert

  5. No kisses from me Steven! But want you to know that my family has been on this journey with you night and day. We promised Mark to keep you in our prayers daily, and have done as promised.

Its great to see the pictures and especially the smiles from you. Its also been heartwarming to see all of the people who love you so dearly tracking your recovery and reporting to others your daily progress.

I know it may not seem so, but you are a very lucky man Steven! There are a lot of people out there who love you so much! I have watched Mark suffer through this ordeal with you, and while he has not lost as much weight as you have (that was a joke...) he has been there for you every step of the way. Most people don't get to witness this kind of love during their life. Again, you have a whole gang of people supporting you, and that has to feel really good! I know this because I have been through something similar.

Well, Godspeed to you in your recovery Steven. We are here for you if you need anything.

    Blessings,

Dean, Renee, Nic and Carly Blaine
